That is the question that has been going around for several years, and it is no surprise that people have become increasingly bored of the standard chatrooms and with good reason. For one thing, those chatrooms are not offering what people need, which is of course contract with real people. The biggest problem with these chatrooms is the fact that you cannot see who you are talking to, and you could in fact be communicating with anyone! If that isn’t your cup of tea then you can be rest assured that you are not alone in that.

The introduction of free  chat rooms has brought something entirely new to the table, which is to say it has brought us the ability to not only see who we are talking to, but also the ability to watch various webcasts. These webcasts were at one time done solely through streaming video, but websites like Ustream and Stickam have brought something entirely new to the table. That have in fact allowed users to interact with famous personalities such as movie stars, radio hosts, and even hosts from popular television shows.

When you visit a video chat site you will more than likely want to know what is available, and the most immediate videos you see will be located directly on the front page. These could be sponsored videos from large companies, or some of them could very well be from users just like yourself. In any case, you can browse through these, or you might look for a search box.

If you know someone or something that is being broadcasted on the website you can simply search for their name or channel, and soon enough you will be able to watch them. Benefits of Email Archiving

The benefits of email archiving are too numerous for any business to ignore. Setting aside the legal requirements for a moment, the business efficiency improvements should be enough to convince most businesses that a solid email policy is essential.

That said, a study performed in 2010 by GFI Software showed that 60 percent of companies in the US didn’t have an email archiving, or even a backup solution. That’s a worrying statistic, especially given the publicity that email has received over the past ten years.

We do everything by mail nowadays. It has overtaken the phone by a long way to become the most popular form of business communication we have. We do deals, swap contracts, negotiate terms, and offer jobs via email. Add to that our habit of using our inbox as an electronic storage device and you have several hundred million reasons why email archiving is a good idea.

Business loses countless hours each day because emails get lost, misplaced, accidentally deleted, or filed. If that time was spent on productivity instead, companies would find they were doing much better than before. That’s only one reason why an email archive is a good idea.

Keeping useful tidbits, files, information or correspondence in an inbox as a storage medium is something we all do. It’s too convenient not to. Especially as many modern email clients now have a search feature for email. No longer do we have to sift through huge inboxes looking for a specific email, we just search for it.

Archiving eliminates the need to delete past messages, saves employees’ time and helps free up space on the e-mail server. Disk space and processor time is a significant drain on an infrastructures resources. Limiting that drain helps email throughput, and saves many expensive upgrades.

One useful tool that employees won’t appreciate, is that of communication monitoring. For companies, it can be an essential policing tool, both for itself or its clients. Some industries insist upon it, namely those in financial services and any who deal with patient confidential information.

The ability to log and track conversations over email, catalog and store them to be retrieved when necessary is a useful tool. While not the employees favorite, it has saved many a company in litigation. The ability to apply filters to email to flag suspicious activity, or for certain words is a useful tool in the fight for privacy. Those abilities come with most email archive solutions.

Current Federal Rules of Civil Procedure demand that companies involved in federal court cases identify, preserve and collect electronically stored information. That means email. Most small businesses do not have the luxury of a dedicated legal department. Nor do many larger organizations.

As a result, the responsibility to search and retrieve requested data falls on the company’s IT staff. Dealing with inbox sizes, e-discovery requests and the maintenance of a corporate email system is a significant overhead to any IT department, large or small. Having a robust email archiving solution takes a significant load off.
